Installation Checklist and Tips

Before you install or update ACT! by Sage 2009 (11.0), whether for the first time or as a version upgrade, there are a few items you should know and check in preparation for the installation.

Other than ACT! 3.x – 6.x, you cannot have any other version of ACT! on the same computer as ACT! 2009 (11.0), including ACT! for Financial Professionals and ACT! for Real Estate. As an installation best practice, it is recommended you uninstall any previous version of ACT! you may have installed. The following links to our online Knowledgebase provide instructions on how to uninstall your current version of ACT!

Before proceeding with the installation, be sure to complete the following tasks:

Reboot your computer before attempting to install.
Sign on as a Windows administrator. For more information, please refer to the following ACT! Knowledgebase article: KB 14175
Make sure your system meets the minimum system requirements. For more information, see www.act.com/2009sysreq.
Disable antivirus and firewall software. (You can enable it after installation/update is complete.) See your antivirus and firewall software documentation for more information.
Close all open applications.
To install to a destination other than the default (C:\Program Files\ACT!\ACT for Windows), verify that folder-sharing rights are enabled and the directories exist.
Note: You cannot install the software to a network drive or run it from the CD.
If you are upgrading from ACT! 2005 or later and will synchronize databases, verify that they all use the same version and tier of the ACT! Software.
