Questions About Using ACT!?
Q. How do I sync ACT! with Outlook?
A. Add your ACT! database to Outlook as an ACT! address book. Complete the e-mail system setup steps in ACT! using “Tools” “Preferences” “E-mail” to add your ACT! address book to Outlook. All e-mail messages you send will be automatically recorded in ACT! as soon as you have successfully added your ACT! address book to Outlook.
Q. How do I setup the ACT! E-mail client?
A. Click on “Tools” “Preferences” and open the e-mail setup on the “E-mail” tab. The e-mail setup wizard will walk you through the process step by step. Contact your Internet Service Provider for the incoming and outgoing mail server addresses. They typically start with pop.[my provider] for the incoming mail server and with smtp.[my provider] for the outgoing mail server. For Cox in Arizona, for instance, these addresses would be pop.west.cox.net and smtp.west.cox.net.
You will also need you e-mail user name and password. Select the check box “Internet Mail” in the e-mail setup wizard. Make sure you select “Use the ACT! e-mail program” when you select the option for “When viewing, composing and sending e-mails”. Add your account on the “Internet Mail Setting” page in the wizard. Add your user information in the “User Information” tab, your incoming and outgoing server addresses in the next two tabs and use the “Advanced” tab to test your setting. ACT! will send a test message to your e-mail account and check for errors.
Q. How do I get Outlook to read/share my ACT! calendar and contacts?
A. You can import your Outlook contacts into ACT! using the import feature. Open the Import Wizard in ACT! from the “File” “Import” menu and select “Outlook” as your “Type of file you want to import”. You can import Outlook contacts from your local Outlook address book or from an Exchange Server address book.
Select “Update Activities” from the “Tools” “Outlook Activities” menu and choose your preferred synchronization method and time frame. Click the “Update” button to run Calendar synchronization. This feature is embedded in ACT! and does not require additional software to be installed.
Q. When updating Outlook activities from ACT! to Outlook, I would like to just populate my Outlook with “meetings” and not the calls and to-dos, etc. How can I do this? I currently use ACT! Premium 2008.
A. Calendar integration currently supports synchronization of ACT! and Outlook activities that fall into a selected date range. A filter that allows you to select activities by type would be a new feature in a future release of ACT!.
Q. How do I sync ACT! with a Pocket PC?
A. You can sync ACT! data with Windows PocketPC or Window Mobile devices by using ACT! Link for PocketPC. The link is available from the CD browser under the Software for Handhelds menu option.

Q. Is it possible to sync wirelessly with a Blackberry as we do now with Outlook Exchange server?
